About us
Equilex Law Group is a corporate and advisory practice based in Dar es Salaam. We serve clients across Tanzania companies, foreign investors, and owner-led businesses on the legal and regulatory matters that come with operating in the country.
Our work spans corporate structuring, regulatory licensing under frameworks such as TIC and EPZA, tax advisory, property and conveyancing, employment, immigration, and the dispute resolution that arises out of those matters. The intent is to be the firm a serious business calls first not for every legal question, but for the ones that determine whether the venture holds together.
How we practise
Three things shape how Equilex works.
Commercial literacy. Legal advice that ignores the business it's meant to serve creates more problems than it solves. We work to understand the matter inside the commercial reality it sits in.
Regulatory fluency. A meaningful share of business activity in Tanzania runs through regulators TRA, BRELA, TIC, EPZA, immigration, the labour commission.
Clear language. We explain matters in English and Swahili, in terms clients can act on. Legal complexity is unavoidable. Unclear communication isn't.

A Note on the Firm
Equilex is a young firm. That is a fact, not a disclaimer. The partners bring direct experience across the regulatory pathways, transactions, and disputes that define commercial practice in Tanzania, and the firm is structured to handle each of those lanes with focus rather than spread thinly across all of them. We would rather be the right firm for the matters we take on than the available firm for any matter that comes in.
